An amazing goal by Alex Mason of the Detroit Lakes Lakers High School hockey team.

The second video is an interview with him as he explains his life, future and what it is to be Indian today.

Both excellent videos to watch.

This was a wonderful piece to start the day with. Incredible shot there, I watched it three times. And his interview presented an attractive, intelligent young man with quiet pride in who and what he is. He's a real tribute to Native Americans and to the people who raised and nurtured him.

John Tavares of the NY Islanders did one just like that this year (though it wasn't a breakaway, but that makes it harder). It is really just taking a Lacrosse play in hockey (Hockey did come from Lacrosse so there is some conceptual overlap). When I still used to play, I had a few players do it to me (I was a goalie) as well. It isn't common, but it isn't unheard of either. Unfortunately due to physical limitations, I will never be able to play again, and I really can't even skate anymore at all so it will never be done to me again lol.

That isn't to put him down though, it was a neat play,

I have been in and out of video conference meetings all day, so it is hard to start 'listening' to something when I have to listen to others bitch and whine about how bad a boss I am. :P

Holy crap. I've seen a lot of hockey and can't remember very many goals that were as sweet as that one. And he's in freaking high school! Kids got a bright future if he keeps at it.

Yep - just like one of the craziest college goals ever. It's crazy what these kids are doing these days.
