Jim Thorpe walked on in 1953 in Los Angeles California. The battle for his remains are in still in court.
''58 years ago, in the middle of a three-day Sac & Fox solemn, sacred funeral service, with the body laid out in an Indian burial lodge, the stepmother (Jim's third wife Patricia) came in with two Oklahoma state troopers and forcibly removed the body with stunned children and elders standing around''.
The case is now being heard before a federal judge.
There is a petition you can sign in the article if you, like many of us believe that Jim Thorpe's remain should be returned to his native land and his people.
It's hard to believe that the return of his remains to his people and native land is in question.
